A bit of a gloomy day here in Belfast, but my little sister and I decided to take ourselves out to browse the shops and drink peppermint frappuccinos. High point had to be me seeing a tv crew, trying to run away and managing to go "uhhh what?" and try to run away again when some man asked me if I was a Libra (I'm not). Then I was so stunned I signed release forms and apparenly will be on BBC1 for some show about mindreading....uh, great. GO ME.

My nails are Fuzzy Peach by Models Own and I used their nail pen for the leopard.

I picked up this dress in a teal-ish colour today as well. I love it! There was a lovely floral patterned version but I already own so many florals. I thought they would be good to take to Japan with me since they're quite light and it'll be really humid there. I also bought something semi sensible, eggcups! But even when I buy sensible things they have to be a little silly - so they're Hello Kitty.

We really went to the shops to get my little brother a birthday present, he turns 20 tomorrow, scary! I somehow found myself in Topshop, oops. But I got all the 5 things below for a total of £14.85! Sale + Student discount = I love Topshop. I'd wanted this necklace since forever but originally it was £20, then they must have brought in a new price point because it was £14, still a bit much for me, but I managed to get it today for £6.70. The ring was £2.50, the pencils £2 each and the shadows only £3 for the palette. I've said it before, I love Topshop make up.

I've been attempting Dissertation work, first chapter submission is next week ahh! I have mostly been distracted with Game of Thrones though. How amazing is it? I can't believe the first season is over already. They're coming back to Belfast in July to film season 2 though and I plan on doing a little stalking...ahem. I just bought the first book and plan on starting it once I finish Caitlin Moran's How to be a Woman which will be soon I'm sure as it's so, so funny and I'm flying through it! Speaking of Game of Thrones I did a little post on my other blog about the women in it, and there's a good few other ones I have written over the last few weeks which I would love you to check out if you like film and feminism.

I'll try to most more regularly, at the minute dissertation work and moving (on Monday!) are keeping me busy! A bit of a change of music I'm leaving you with this week, but this video is so bizarre and adorable and the song is great. Not my usual singer songwriter finish but I hope you like it all the same.

If you've been reading my blog for a while you'll know I like to finish off outfit posts by sharing a favourite song. I thought I share a few of my favourites in a dedicated post for a change!

Any time I am on my own I am listening to music. I listen to it as I bake (favourite), if I'm on the bus, walking, fall asleep to it. I'd like to pretend I have amazing taste in music and appear super cool on here but in reality I like some really good, respected artists but I also like a rather significant amount of terrible pop music. I love folk, it's my absolute favourite. My mum's favourite singer has always been Joni Michell and I was raised on her music. I prefer female vocalists, love pianos, finding meaning in obscure lyrics. I also love rap. I can't help it, I'm a bad feminist. It's just not really permissable as a femininst to love some of the music I do but I can'y say no to dancing to Kanye West or Dizzee Rascal. But everyone has their weaknesses, so I thought I'd share a few of mine with you. It'd be great if other bloggers did this too! I love discovering new music.

I'm lucky that my parents were total hippies growing up, and are letting me "supervise" their record collection.

My record player is a Steepletone, they're pretty cheap and a good starter player.

My all time favourite singer: Tori Amos.

I wish I look as happy as I really was in these photos! But I was shaking and lost the ability to move my lips haha.

This is a no brainer, I have been utterly in love with her since the age of fourteen. Her lyrics are completely amazing and fill my head with all sorts of dream like images. Any time I have been sad or going through anything difficult I have always found peace in her songs. She's also a staunch feminist and a lovely person. I've met her a few times and she's the most sweet, caring and compassionate person you could ever imagine.

The first Tori Amos song I fell in love with. I ripped this video and uploaded it myself, probably the only youtube video I'll have that exceeds 200,000 views hah.

Every single album of Tori's is completely different, if you're new start with Little Earthquakes.

My favourite song: A case of you by Joni Mitchell.

Speaks for itself, what I wouldn't give to see her live just once.

Still have my ticket!

I still love Michael Jackson as much as I did when I was four. My parents have video upon video of me dancing in my pink mini skirt to his videos, failing miserably at copying the dance moves. Each and every song of his reminds me of my childhood. I was supposed to see him on his This is It tour, I had a ticket. I'll never forget being taken to Dublin when I was four years old with my parents and my brother and sister and seeing Michael in his shiny gold costumes.

Favourite musical family: The Wainwrights.

(Mendocino is also one of the most beautiful towns I have visited). Seriously, listen to this song and try not to become nostalgic.

Rufus makes me think of New York City, I think I only brought his cds with me the first time I visited and they went with me and my little portable cd player everywhere I went.

And I thought I'd throw this one in since it's beautiful, and Snow Patrol are from Northern Ireland.

18 year old me and Martha!

I guess normally this would have been favourite band, but there isn't any band I love as much as I love this family. I've seen Rufus and Martha live numerous times and I was lucky enough to see Kate McGarrigle sing my favourite song of hers with Martha shortly before she passed away. The songs above are my favourites of theirs. I enjoy Loudon Wainwright's music as well but not as much as these three.

And because this could go on for miles, some of my other favourites. Basically, songs that I will never ever fall out of love with.

I listened to this one walking home in the rain once and it forever stuck, can't beat a bit of Feist.

My friend thinks I'm nuts for wanting this as my first dance song at my wedding if I ever get married, whatever! I think it's completely beautiful.

And to finish, a song from a local band that I love. My friend's brother is in this and that's how I found them. They're pretty awesome so give them a listen. Emerald Armada: Make it good.

The last few days have been filled with packing and trips to ikea. As fun as that can be a night off for cinema and dinner was much appreciated! We had delicious Thai food, if you're in Belfast go to Thai Village it's absolutely delicious. I haven't worn shorts since I was about 13, made a nice change!

The necklace is from Disney Couture, I love it. Although there is supposed to be another chain from it but it broke off the first time I wore it so whether it's worth the money or not I'm not sure. It was a gift from Ali but I know it was expensive! ASOS don't stock it anymore so I'll probably keep it even with the missing chain, might try and fashion one myself.

And this song which is amazing and I can't stop listening to it.

Finally, an outfit post! I went for dinner last night at Deanes at Queens last night and it was completely delicious. I always worry that really fancy restaurants will by tiny haute cuisine food but it was wonderful and there was plenty of it on my plate!

We were going to go to the cinema but I was stupid and forgot my glasses so we went back to the flat and watched up to episode 4 of Game of Thrones. I am just catching up on it now, really enjoying it and it was filmed here in Northern Ireland.

Sorry I don't have any detail photos, my sister who took the photos was giving off because she was in the middle of playing call of duty so she rushed back to her xbox.

I love this dress, and it's down from £40 to £28 in sizes 8-22 at the minute.

A month of Instagram: May.

May has been a strange month. I know I have been totally rubbish with outfit posts, the proper one I did was almost a month ago now. Basically between the huge workload I have had this month I have constantly been back and forth to the doctors, the hospital etc. My health has been rubbish and on top of that my life has been completely drama full. I'm getting the last essay before my dissertation done this week though and hopefully then I can rest a bit. I've been given doctors orders to try and de-stress and stop feeling sorry for other people and look after myself for a while instead, which is advice I think I need to take on board now.

I have plenty coming up to look forward to though, including the big move next month to our own flat and then Japan in September! This weekend Ali and I are going out to a fancy restaurant for dinner so I'm sure I'll get dressed up and take photos. I just haven't been going anywhere that exciting so I've been living in jeans and t-shirts. My mum says it's rude not to dress up when you're going to the doctors though?! Is this a generation thing or am I missing something? Who can be bothered to get dolled up to go to the doctors? Anyway, enjoy the photos and I hope I will have a more exciting month coming up for you.
