My own little aviary.

I have a thing for birds. Anything with birds on it and I have to have it. I thought I would share one of my collections with you, or part of it at least. I collect necklaces, and most of them feature birds. There's something I just love about them and the freedom that they represent. So enjoy a few snaps of my favorite pieces.

If the birds are sitting on or hanging off branches, even better. I love trees and branches, I have a cherry blossom branch tattooed on my left foot.

You can get the necklace above from Elsie Bell.

This sparrow is one of my favorites, I got him in 2006 in Topshop.

This little bird is probably my most worn piece of jewellery.

In case you're feeling inspired, I made this set of some items I would love to add to my collection!

Banana cupcakes with nutella frosting!

See? I promised I would return to you! My exam is over so I'm having a day off. I baked these cupcakes on Friday night, baking is the best thing to calm me down. These were delicious, I got loads of compliments and the people in worked loved them as well. I doubled the recipe apart from the bananas, I only had four but you could still taste it. I didn't double the frosting recipe and still had plenty to ice the 24 cupcakes this made. This recipe states that it makes 16 however that never works out for me somehow, even though the cases were quite big!

I am a fan of anything with nutella in it, and I found the recipe on the Nutella website which is filled with links to yummy recipes!

Banana Cupcake Ingredients:
1 1/2 self rising flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 ounces unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 medium-large very ripe bananas, pureed

Directions:
-Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
-Line 16 muffin cups with paper liners.
-Sift the flour and salt together in a mixing bowl. Set aside.
-Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
-Add the vanilla and the eggs, 1 at a time, mixing well after each addition.
-Add the flour mixture and blend ingredients together until only just combined.
-Stir in the banana. Blend mixture until ingredients are fully incorporated.
-Portion batter into muffin cups. This recipe with make about 16 cupcakes.
-Bake in preheated oven until cakes are light golden brown and tester comes out clean, about 25-30 minutes.
-After removing cupcakes from the oven, cool completely on a wire rack.
-Once completely cool, top with nutella frosting (recipe follows) and a sprinkle of chopped, toasted hazelnuts.

Nutella Frosting Ingredients:
4 ounces unsalted butter, softened
1 cup nutella
8 ounces powdered sugar
2 tablespoons (ish) of milk or cream

Nutella Frosting Directions:
-Cream together the butter and nutella until blended.
-Add the powdered sugar gradually until ingredients are combined.
-Mix on a high speed, adding in milk or cream (2 tablespoons, more or less) until frosting is smooth and creamy.
-Fill a pastry bag fitted with a large star tip and pipe frosting over the top of each cupcake.

I decorated mine with edible glitter and mini eggs. These are the same cupcakes, I just wanted to use both types of cases!

Apologies.

I'm kind of in love with my new Panda hat from River Island.

Hi folks, sorry I haven't updated this blog in forever. I'm sitting my exams at the moment and as I'm in third year they are rather important! I promise I will be back next week and I have some fun things lined up including a recipe post, an interview with Carla of MessyCarla and a jewelery themed post.

12/365.

9/365

In the meantime I'm trying to upload a photo a day for my 365 project so you can always find me on my flickr photostream.

Lady Luck Rules OK

I hate the exam period. I have so much coursework on top of everything else. I think I've been sitting at my desk for about three hours now and still haven't managed anything. Something did arrive that cheered me up though! My LLROK order! I only ordered these things on Monday night and they were here today on Thursday, despite the snow.

I love their jewellery, it's really well made. The glitter items are brilliant, and the glitter never comes off. If you like their stuff order now! Every single item they sell is 50% off until the midnight on the 11th of January. My order would have been around £30 but I got these three items for just £15, bargain.

Broken heart necklace in red.

Sugar mouse brooch.

Heart to heart necklace.

Fox costume pendant.

I ordered this necklace back in Autumn, I've worn it loads and not lost a single flake of glitter. Now, back to work!

New year new start?

Happy New Year readers! I hope you had a good New Year's Eve. Do you have any resolutions? I don't know if I really believe in them, if they're that important I don't see why you should wait until January 1st to change things.

I am however taking part in Project 365 for the first time ever, and I may keep a record of all the films I watch just to get an idea of how many I really do watch in a year (probably not enough, I am a film student). It might be a good opportunity to get through the 100 or so dvds I still have in the cellophane wrapper.

I'll probably post a few images from my 365 here, but the majority of them will probably be to dull to deserve posting here. You can follow my 365 on my flickr stream.

3/365 | Nostalgia.

I'm looking forward to taking photos for my next post, but it involves a lot of untangling jewelery so I've been putting it off out of pure laziness. It should be up within the next few days!
