Movie Monday 001. The Runaways.

I thought I would start a new weekly post on the blog. Every Monday I will be introducing you to a movie I think you should watch, I am a film student after all so more film content on this blog is needed!

The Original Runaways

I went to see The Runaways by music video director Flora Sigismondi last week and loved it. I am a big Joan Jett fan but I really dislike Kristen Stewart (I hate Twilight) so I knew it might be a mixed bag. I actually loved it, Kristen Stewart made a great Joan Jett and Dakota Fanning played a perfect Cherie Curry. My only complaint was that the film focused a lot more on Cherie than on Joan and it was her who was really in love with music and who spurred the band on.

The costumes are wonderful and the make up as well. The soundtrack is also brilliant but you mightn't like it so much if you don't like punk or rock. Seriously, check out this film. It made me want to quit uni and be a badass rock chick...until I remembered I can't sing or play guitar.

I made this little collage of Runaways inspired goodies.

I really want that Bowie bag. Hope you enjoyed the new feature, let me know if you like the idea!

p.s. this is my 100th blog post!

  2. Oh I love this idea! I'm not a K.Stewart fan, so I didn't want to see this, but...I'll take your advice!

And..I really want that Bring the Noise tee! It's $20, not too bad...maybe I'll treat myself. :)

    Great post!

  3. I feel really bad that Kristen Stewart has so many negative connotations against her name after Twilight. She's given a lot of great performances too! That being said I still haven't see this movie - must get around to it! :)

  9. I felt the same way about this movie, it completely changed my opinion of Kristen Stewart, and I wish the film and focused more on Joan than Cherie.

  13. I wish I'd liked this film more than I did. I loved the visuals, the art direction & cinematography was gorgeous, but overall I was bored. However, the style (rock chick chîc, I think?) is very me! Let's start a band. I have my fender strat guitar and plenty of rock girl attire & angst! :)

  14. Happy hundredth :) Wicked idea for a feature, definitely keep it up! A film I've been meaning to see for ages... I can't get over the age of Dakota Fanning these days though, to me she will always be the kidnapped child in Man on Fire haha! jazzy ♥
